Hoʻomaikaʻi
Congratulations to our own Rosemary and Larry Mild, recipients of the prestigious 2024 Elliot Cades Award for Literature for established writers. The Cades Award is Hawaiʻi's most prominent literary honor. The Milds, who have lived in Honolulu since 2013, are a husband-and-wife team who have written more than 20 books together, including mystery novels, suspense thrillers, short story collections, and memoirs. Their novels Cry Ohana and Honolulu Heat, as well as their collection of detective stories in Copper and Goldie, are all set in Hawaiʻi.
The Milds began writing together after meeting on a blind date, when Larry told Rosemary he intended to write a novel and wanted her help. Since then, they have become members of several prominent writing organizations, including Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, and the Hawaiʻi Fiction Writers. They were honored along with emerging writer Megan Kamalei Kakimoto at a public awards ceremony.
👉 Reminder! Our September 1st AND 2nd meeting will be held in the parish hall at Epiphany Episcopal Church in Kaimuki.
